Short version: this site reports what Canadian authorities have published about fire bans, with a timestamp and a link to each source. It is a reading of those orders, not the orders themselves. Before you light anything, the authority's own publication is what counts.

What this site is — and what it is not
We aggregate fire ban and fire restriction status published by Canadian provincial, territorial, municipal and park authorities, and republish it with the issuing authority named, the time we last read it, and a link back to the original.
This site is not a legal authority and is not legal advice. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of any government body. Where our reading and the authority's own publication disagree, the authority is right and we are wrong.
Accuracy, freshness, and the limits of both
Fire bans change during the day, sometimes within hours, and the authorities that issue them publish on their own schedules. We read each source on a daily cycle and show the time of the last successful read on every page. A status can therefore be correct as read and out of date by the time you see it.
Where we cannot read a source, or where the reading is older than 36 hours, the page says Unconfirmed and points you to the authority instead of guessing. We would rather tell you we do not know than tell you something comfortable.
Coverage is partial by design. We report a province only once its source is verified and its licence permits the use, which is why several provinces are listed as not tracked on the coverage page. Absence from this site never means absence of a fire ban.
Where an authority states that its own list may be incomplete — several do, because municipalities are not always required to report to them — we label it accordingly. "No restriction reported" on this site means exactly that, and never "no restriction exists".
Your responsibility
Open burning is regulated, and breaking those rules can carry substantial fines, liability for suppression costs, and in some jurisdictions imprisonment. You are responsible for confirming the current rules for your exact location with the responsible authority before lighting any fire. Use this site to find out where to look and what to ask — not as your final answer.

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, completeness, timeliness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. Some source data we republish carries its own "as is" disclaimer from the issuing authority; those disclaimers apply to that data here as well.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Honeygoat GmbH is not liable for any loss, damage, fine, penalty, or cost arising from your use of, or reliance on, information on this site — including any decision to light or not to light a fire. This does not exclude liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for intent or gross negligence.

We link to government sources throughout. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Government data reproduced here remains subject to its own licence, named on each province page and in the Imprint.
Acceptable use
You may read, link to, and cite this site freely. Please do not scrape it at a rate that degrades it for others, republish our presentation of the data wholesale, or present our readings as though they were official. If you want the underlying data, take it from the authorities we link to — that is where it belongs, and their licences tell you what you may do with it.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and continued use after a change means acceptance of the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Swiss law, with the courts at the registered seat of Honeygoat GmbH having jurisdiction, to the extent permitted by mandatory law. If you use the site as a consumer, mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence remain unaffected.
